I stray over to the dark side once in a while…just to see for myself what the left-stream media is talking crazy about.
A few weeks ago I found myself registering to comment on Huffington Post. I posted a few comments.
This week I posted a few more.
Now, I am getting replies to my comments from the lefties that make up the vast majority of Huff Puff’s readers/commenters there. It’s not pretty…and it’s only pretty fun. But not a lot of fun. Not nearly as much fun as replies from sane Patriots like most of my readers and the readers of blogs I frequent.
But it’s addictive to parry with the dark side.
The main articles on Huff Puff yesterday, of course, dealt with Paul Ryan being named as Romney’s running mate. Over 24, 000 comments! (And sorry to say, as I skimmed several pages of comments, very few from conservatives, independents, ie. right-thinking Americans).
Do you ever spend time on the Dark Side of the News? Do you comment? Do you reveal yourself? Do you find it addictive?
Is it a total waste of my precious time? Should I quit? Help!
Yes. But more often than not I tend to get a little heated so I pretty much stay away now. Although I’ve gotten better about commenting calmly with Lefty Catholics.
A leftie catholic is a bit of an oxymoron, isn’t it? Ah well, it takes all kinds.
The social justice kinda Catholic. Think Joe Biden.
Heh! Good luck, my friend. On rare, and I do mean rare, occaiyou can engage a liberal in a civil conversation. But, 99% of the time one is wasting their time. If you getting some enjoyment out of it or are improving your debating skills. go for it. I gave up a long time ago. I’ve done numerous post on articles from HuffPo. All of them were very criticle of the arricle. Even though I properly linked and pinged backed, never once did the author come by to defend his/her opinion.
It’s good mental excercise, I suppose. But I think I’ll steer clear for a while.
Just listen to NPR, it’s less invasive.
I stopped listening to NPR years ago. Just the thought that my tax dollars are supporting that one-sided “news” drives me crazy.
There are times when I am tempted to stray to the darkside. Then I remember not to cast my pearls before swine.
If there is is really no desire to sanely discuss or honestly consider another point of view, I refuse to waste my time arguing against indifference, dishonesty, and deliberate stupidity.
Jesus was always willing to answer a question from the heart; but with those who simply wanted to argue or deceive, He had strong words.
I’ve shaken the dust from my feet and will only take the good news (political and/or spiritual) to those who truly desire it.
There are times when I’ve strayed onto the darkside (and at first it’s grand fun!). But I’ve determined not to cast my pearls before swine.
There are those who are looking to engage in dialog with sincerity and honesty; but most of the time it’s a wasted effort. My pearls are more precious than swine will ever know or can acknowledge.
Jesus was always willing to talk with those who came to Him – as long as they came with open hearts rather than deceitful trickery. For the latter, He had scathing words.
The “other” side is indifferent, deceived, and delusional. They don’t want dialog, they want absolute determinism from only their point of view. How dare anyone think outside of their box. Personally, I’ve shaken the dust off my feet and will take the good news (political and/or spiritual) only to those who seek to grow and accept truth.
I made a comment on a Huff article and didn’t understand why response were turning up on my FB page. Little did I know at the time that, #1 there was that little box that you unchecked if you didn’t ant your responses to go to FB and ##2, little did I know how nasty the repoies were.I commented several times on a ‘dark sided
WP blog and was asked DOWNRIGHT, “what are you invading my blog for, if you don’t like my opinion?”
I was, and never have been an argumentative type (I believe in the ‘you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar…) adage. but the FUR FLEW AT ME and I the Hugg board received replies from LIBS that some people owed me apologies! That all goes to show yo, decency does remain on the left!!
Well, that’s good to hear, Annie.
How funny you are. This post sound like a Dear Abbey or Ann Landers letter for help, lol. I got my start Blogging over at CNN Ireports and had to deal with a dailey onslaught of vile and vulgar personal attacks and more. After months of abuse over there I one day decided to stand up and fight fire with fire. I was quickly banned and so here I am today. I owe it all to CNN……….. don’t ya just love the left?
So CNN did you a good turn. You may never have started your 3 great blogs if that hadn’t happened.
Lol, I never thought of it quite that way my friend. Thank you CNN for the Inspiration.
I laughed out loud! I could hear Good Witch Glenda from the Wizard of Oz trilling “Are you a good troll or a bad troll?” And you answering, “I’m not a troll at all.”
I live in a liberal city, in a liberal neighborhood, and go to a ridiculously liberal church. Here are my observations:
Liberals do not listen to logic. If you could appeal to logic they would not be where they are. They simply are not educated thinkers. Educated thinkers ask questions. Uneducated thinkers simply open their mouths for the spoon.
Liberals are largely reactive and emotional. Angry liberals are so busy frothing at the mouth cursing and insulting everyone, that they are unlikely to read your comments, even less likely to read them thoughtfully. Emotional or bleeding heart liberals are “on a mission” and so committed/deceived, that to listen to another viewpoint puts their entire raison d’etre at risk.
Huff Puff readers, and largely big three viewers are there because they have assented to the deceit, and can not stand to hear anything that will challenge their world view. If you were to quote them a fact from Wall St. Journal, or Heritage Foundation, or even a Government publication like the text of a Senate bill, or a quote that says BO cut 700 Bill from Medicare, they simply would not trust it.
They are comfortable with the lies. Media in general sucks – and Fox isn’t great either. We don’t pay for cable anymore so on a recent trip we tuned in to Fox in our hotel room and had that reaction “I’m dumber now,” for spending 10 minutes watching a story about someone’s stolen dog. (National News? I think not.)
I tend to storm the gates only on one issue. Other than that I reserve my comments for defensive maneuvers when lib trolls show up on sites I frequent – and only if I have something truly funny to say. But you know – He might be leading you.
Wow – that was really long – sorry!
Thank you for my first laugh of the morning, Sara, ie. your Wizard of Oz reference!
Do not apologize. THAT’S what I call a well-thought out comment. I agree with you about Fox (though we do watch it, but I tend to like some of Fox Business shows a lot better, esp. Gerri Willis).
I used to visit liberal sites occasionally to comment because it was fun. You can’t rationally argue with the irrational. And liberalism truly is irrational.
Although my language may be a little salty at times, I always come armed with facts. But facts don’t generally sway the irrational because the irrational can not understand that 1+1=2, and hence 2-1=1 always. So it ends up just being a waste of time, some times fun.
Yesterday on a NewsOne article someone somewhere linked to about Gabby Douglas’ hair, someone commented that afro “hair was better because it protected against falling objects”. I almost fell off my chair laughing. I pondered joining the Mensa-fest but opted my time was better spent not arguing stupidity with the ridiculous — in this case it would have just been to easy to be fun.
We all need a little levity in our lives and if we find it fun then no harm done. But my time is limited…and I have just a much fun on sites like yours.
Gabby Douglas is absolutely adorable in every way..what an odd comment about her hair. People really are interesting.
It was a pro-afro hair anti-white people hair comment. The poster’s opinion was that Gabby has “white people” hair.
Thank you for the comment. I need to write more often but the time involved in some of the posts I write is tremendous. The “Freedom of Movement” post was written over two evenings if I remember correctly.
LOLOL your post is funny, it is definitely a conservative “dear abby.” I have indeed found myself on a left blog trying to converse. In the past. B/c . . .well, I never got anywhere.
Most of the time, I managed to keep the convo civil, but that didn’t mean that I ever got even an inch of agreement. So stubborn to not give you any credence whatsoever, that if they can’t refute what you say, they just ignore it and go off on a tangent. Or ignore you.
Nowadays, the only libs I bother parrying with are my actual friends on FB. They, too, stubbornly refuse to ackowledge any good points I make, by the way.
Every once in a while I comment on a left blog still, but only with the idea in my mind that I am tweaking/annoying them. I never expect to make any ground.
cheers my friend!
Linda
Yes, I guess my time is better spent trying to convince the truly undecideds, uninformed. Sigh. The libs, like the poor, will always be with us.
Freedom, by the way — Takes a thick skin to debate Liberals.
We are in an era much like the period before the Civil War. Like then, what we are debating is slavery. Do we own ourselves or does our government own us?
What the Liberal Democrat worships is government, and he demands we submit and give government the right to take from us (the rich) whatever it “needs.” Some how that state of affairs is suppose to create paradise.
Even Christians tend to get angry when someone threatens our religious beliefs, but Christians know that anger is wrong. Liberal Democrats know no such thing. When we debate someone who has a religious faith in government, we debate someone whose ethical code is based upon wants, not love. Because their faith is inherently illogical and based upon theft, Liberals waste no time getting angry and going ballistic.
Liberal Democrats are not stupid. Just because someone believes something illogical or evil does not make that person is stupid. What they are is blind. Bad government often results because some people insist they have the right to own other people, and Liberal Democrats cannot see — cannot admit — that is exactly what they want.
To avoid war and the destruction of our nation, we must win the debate.
It is my duty to inform you, according to the guidelines for the Very Inspiring Blogger Award, that Citizen Tom has nominated you for it: http://citizentom.com/2012/08/06/very-inspiring-blogger-award/. If you so choose to accept, it will be my pleasure. Thanks for your inspiring blog.
Thank you, Tom for recognizing my blog!
Very good points, Tom. Yes, we MUST win the debate. The future of America is at stake.

Well, I hope when you visit the dank basements of the Left that you’ve armed yourself with a large tank of bug spray with a wide-angle nozzle.
I admire your gumption!
