The reasons for not re-electing President Obama are numerous: failed domestic policies, failing foreign policies, poor management of our nation’s resources including taxpayer dollars and energy, over-regulation of small business, a failure to work in any type of bipartisan way, a penchant for putting social issues ahead of economic issues…you’ve read and studied the issues and know the score.
Many Americans have jokingly? said they would vote for a potted plant over voting for a 2nd term for Obama. Thankfully, we have a much better option. We have Mitt Romney.
This post is not about Romney’s vision forAmerica, which in my opinion, is on-target. It’s not about his 5-Point Plan, a succinct, easy-to-understand path. This essay is my personal view of Mitt Romney, the man.
I believe Mitt Romney is a man of principle. He is a man of character. He is a man of integrity. The office of President of the United States is not for the faint of heart. It is not for the indecisive or the weak. The most powerful position in the world must only be granted to a person with strong moral character and steadfastness. It must be a person with conviction who Americans can trust to make the right decisions at the right time and who takes seriously our constitution and works hard, not only to protect Americans, but to defend American freedoms.
The President of the United States must love America and American ideals more than him or herself. Every day, the President is asked to make decisions that affect our current lives and our future. “What’s in it for me” should never be a consideration. Most people can’t make that kind of personal sacrifice. I believe Mitt Romney can and will.
Romney doesn’t need the trappings of the White House. He doesn’t need to further a political career or push a global agenda. He is at a place in his life where he can wield power and be a force for change from an armchair just as well as the Oval Office. But I believe he is taking on the hardest job in the world because he knows America needs to fixed. And he is the best person standing to accomplish that task.
Is Romney perfect? No. Will I, as a conservative leaning libertarian (or libertarian leaning conservative) have issues with our federal government when Romney is elected? You can count on it. One man or woman cannot possibly fix everything that ails our nation.
But at this time and place in America’s history Mitt Romney is the right person for the job. Because it’s a big job and I believe he will put America back on the proper path towards economic prosperity and national security. And for this American Mom that’s a huge step in the right direction.
P.S. For all the Obama supporters, I want you to know that my vote on November 6th for Mitt Romney is also for YOU. Some people just don’t have enough sense to come in out of the rain. And that’s okay. Those of us with enough sense will pull you out of the rain by electing Mitt Romney.
Freedom, said far better than anything I have said, and I agree completely. A good man, you will do a good job. And that will be enough, for now.
The person behind the position can make all the difference in the world. After the long, drawnout primary, I have come to a place where I am more confident about Romney being president than I have been since Reagan.
I see a little bit of the Gipper in Romney myself and would not have thought this had it not been for this hard fought Campaign. At the Al Smith Roast I saw the glimmer in Mitt’s eye as he stood tall and sounded more and more Reaganest then I would have imagined. Great job on this essay Freedom. I think you have spoken for us all on this one my friend.
It is a refreshing feeling, isn’t it? I was not enthusiastic about McCain at all. I wanted him to win but it was only because I thought he would be the lesser of two evils. This time it’s much, much better.
Well said.
Thank you.
No matter how one feels about Romney, anyone with an ounce of sense knows that Romney will do more to help America than Obama ever did.
In my view, Romney is no Reagan. But — and this is a big fact that many forget — a lot of conservatives had reservations about how Reagan would govern. Even John Wayne wasn’t on board with Reagan. Then Reagan actually governed and proved what a great man he was and what a great vision he had.
I recently read that Romney will not take a dime in salary if he’s elected President. I’m willing to bet that Romney and his family will not rack up huge entertainment and vacation bills, either.
Yes, I have heard that he doesn’t intend to take a salary, either. And the parties? Well, since he doesn’t drink…
Great post, and I too think Mitt Romney appears a fine example of character and integrity.
But srsly, an empty chair would be a better leader than our current president, so . . . whatever flaws Romney may have, no matter. He has the most important trait our nation needs: Not Being Obama.

I had a feeling you were one of those “potted plant” people. LOL.
A very outstanding post Freedom !
This Country really needs a little R&R.
I have to give the man a lot of credit for taking this challenge on.
Lesser men would shy away.
I heard a clip from the View of Ann Romney saying that the campaigns are grueling
and very hard on the families.
These folks certainly don’t need the ridicule and the upcoming insane attacks that will be leveled against them, especially from the biased, lying media.
Sarah Palin and her family come to mind.
Ann will make a great First Lady if Mitt wins.
What a welcome relief to what we have today.
A very classy lady indeed !
I like what I’m seeing of Ann Romney, as well. I think the liberal media tried to paint Romney as something he isn’t…but it isn’t working.

An outstanding validation that Mitt Romney is the man for the job. I have no faith in Barack or Michelle Obama whatsoever. As a matter of fact, four years of the Obamas is four years too much.
I look forward to a Romney presidency and Ann Romney as first lady.
