Here are a few stories that caught my eyes or ears today. To be filed under “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.” (Not to be confused with the 1963 comedy, which in comparison, is quite delightful).
The New Mexico Court of Appeals upheld a ruling by the state’s Civil Rights Commission that a Christian photographer who refused to take pictures of a gay couple’s commitment ceremony violated the state’s discrimination law…
The case dates back to 2006 when Vanessa Willock tried to hire Elane Photography for a “same-gender ceremony.” New Mexico law does not recognize either marriage or civil unions between persons of the same sex.
Elane Hugenin declined to accept the job and explained to Willock that because of their Christian beliefs the studio only handled “traditional weddings.”…read more at http://radio.foxnews.com/toddstarnes/top-stories/court-says-gay-rights-trump-religious-rights.html
The State of Oregon already has some of the most restrictive anti-smoking laws in the nation. Now the state legislature is considering a bill to ban smoking in all state parks–except in your own RV or vehicle. Can’t be about the smoke since they’re not banning campfires. Hmmmm.
And this is the same state legislature that decided that sex change operations are a state employee benefit.

Thank God Danny Glover isn’t a Real Teacher.
The Constitution’s Second Amendment was created to bolster slavery and capture land from Native Americans, award-winning actor Danny Glover told a group of students at a Texas A&M sponsored event on Thursday.
“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” he said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”

It’s a sad word somedays, isn’t it? It takes real cognitive dissonance to manage to figure out that not doing something is discrimination.
And Glover’s comment is beneath contempt. The Soviets wouldn’t have tried that bald-faced a lie.
Yeah, the NM case has all kinds of implications. I thought a private business had the freedom to accept or decline work for any reason at all. I guess she should lied and she was already booked. Maddening.
That was my reaction, I’ve turned down work on occasion for really trivial reasons but, I guess if you’re in NM your a slave to the gay community. Can you say, “Hello Texas?”
Your on a roll Freedom and I just love this one. Great job and I’ve tweeted it already.
If we don’t laugh…:)
I need a new copy of the constitution. The copy I have doesn’t say that the Bill of Rights is just for the the protected classes or that the right to bare harms was to protect us from revolting slaves. As for Oregon, you are right, Freedom. The need to outlaw camp fires, matches and incendiary devices, forest fires, and volcanos and lightning. The world is an asylum and the people that run it are insane!
I think you solved the mystery! There’s a second, “secret” copy of the constituton floating around and Oregon, New Mexico & Danny Glover all have it!! (Pretty sure it’s the same copy that Feinstein and Obama are working from too)
An asylum. It seems so. We voted for those insane people.
A sobering statement, Tom.
Gay marriage is a bigger issue than people realize. It’s not just about two people in love.
Hmmm…which is worse? Glover’s take on the 2nd Amendment, or politicians’ interpreting it to mean hunting as a God given right?
Nuts!
Intelligent question, Sherry. I say it’s the politicians’ misinterpretation of the consitution. They are sworn to uphold a document they don’t even understand. Glover is just an indiviual Hollywood lefty. Annoying but pretty harmless in the scheme of things.

Glover is as radical as Harry Belefonte and Sean Penn. They all need to go to Venezuela or Cuba or whatever country/leader they idolize. They clearly don’t give a d*** about this one.
But they sure have reaped the benefits of living in a capitalist, free socieity, haven’t they?
Idiocy and wealth – Grrrr
Well I was a Danny Glover fan, until today! I am still committed to gay folks having the same rights as I do or any other American, but no more rights, why should they be protected ? What worries me more is what our beloved President and the United Nation are truly up to? Do they honestly believe they can take our guns away from us. If that happens, the good ole USA will cease to exsist as will most if not all of our beloved freedoms we now enjoy
Exactly when did the “we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone” sign become extinct? More faith under fire… My patience was exhausted long ago. I just posted an item on abortion that left me feeling 8o, not 60 yrs old. Sickening.
I do recall reading about Glovers blather; wonder if the state of Delaware still has horsewhipping on the books. (found that obscure fact long, long ago)
Hey – let’s bring back the pillory, instead of 30-90 day sentences for petty criminals! Save the taxpayer $$
