Ace conservative blogger, Puma by design, put together an excellent expose post on what happened outside of the MSM cameras during Friday’s manhunt in Watertown: Watertown Evacuations for many were not voluntary-treated like crimnals-deployment teams ripped families from their homes.  Here’s an excerpt:

If, like me, you watched the events of the lockdown of the Boston area and the manhunt for the 19-year old terrorist unfold on any of the network or cable news outlets, you were not told the full story.

We were told that residents were ASKED to stay in place. When in fact, they were threatened with arrest if they tried to leave their homes.

We were told that law enforcement personnel were performing a house-to-house search and were treated with one short video of a family calmly waiting on their front porch. When in fact, several homemade videos and still photos shot by people living in “the zone”  show residents being ripped from their homes and forced to march out with their hands in the air like common criminals so their personal property could be searched.

We weren’t shown videos of armored vehicles on residential streets. But they were there.

We weren’t told that law enforcement and SWAT teams were storming normal, residential homes as if conducting a drug bust and treating residents as if they were knowingly abetting a terrorist by harboring him in their homes.

We were shown videos of Boston area residents lining the streets to cheer law enforcement’s capture of the terrorist. We weren’t shown videos of angry people that witnessed martial law firsthand and were humiliated by the treatment they received by the same law enforcement.

The Boston act of terror was horrific with many victims who will have to live with the pain of that day for years to come. But the crime against the American people by our own government perpetrated on Friday is also horrific. We lost something of intrinsic value—our 4^th amendment rights and the right to be treated with respect by those who are supposed to serve us and whose salaries we pay.  Now that the martial law genie has officially escaped—can she ever be put back in the tyranny bottle? Where will she turn up next?

I am opposed to the current gun legislation for the following reasons:

• Universal background checks are unnecessary. Virginia has one of the best instant background checks for gun purchases in the country. All states have some sort of background checks already. Like most things, when the federal government takes over a program and tries to implement a one-size-fits-all program, what results is a larger, more costly federal bureaucracy and less power and freedom for the states and ultimately, the people. What’s good for California is not necessarily what works best for Virginia.
• Universal background checks = Universal gun registration. Everyone knows that. It is NOT paranoia to conclude that gun registration is the first, necessary step to gun confiscation.  We need only to look at other “so-called” free countries like Australia to do the math. Within our own borders, we need only to look at localities (like New York City) that require handgun permits to understand that the government abuses that information.
• As a Virginian, you understand the how silly the argument is for any type of assault weapons or clip-size ban. A shotgun can do more damage than an AK or an AR. The government has no business dictating “how many bullets” one may need to stop an intruder or kill a deer.
• There are already plenty of laws on the books regarding gun issuance and criminal activity involving guns. More legislation does nothing more than harm innocent American gun owners. It will not protect any of us from someone intent upon doing harm to themselves or others. Those people are already breaking the law. They will not stop because a new law is implemented.  
• We need to look at the state of the mental health system and the breakdown of our society to understand why mass shootings occur. It has to start with the families and communities in which these killers reside. Who are those people? Those closest to them usually know who they are but do they have easy access to the mental health system so they can seek proper care for that family member or member of the community before a tragedy occurs?  But we must recognize that mental illness or no, evil does exist. And no amount of laws can ever stop all evil from manifesting in the tragic loss of life.

Ultimately, our elected officials need to view every piece of proposed legislation through the lens of our Constitution.  Are our individual freedoms being upheld? Does this legislation infringe upon the rights of American citizens? Through that lens, this proposed gun legislation does not pass the test and therefore, should not pass through Congress.

Thank you for your service to the citizens of The Commonwealth of Virginia.

“Use less oil.” That’s what President Obama told a reporter yesterday when questioned about gas prices that have gone up 47 cents a gallon in a month.

And of course, the fearless leader of the free world leads by example by flying Air Force One for a weekend of golf with Tiger Woods while Michelle and the girls flew the smaller Air Force Two for a weekend of Skiing.

How different things COULD have looked at the gas pump right now if Americans had any sense and not re-elected the “let them use less oil” president. The new Canadian pipeline would be underway….stringent EPA regulations would be in overhaul mode opening up new American oil and gas exploration and new refineries. And gas prices would be tumbling, not rising.

 But no. You got what you voted for. Consider the consequences of your vote every time that gas dial spins.

The New Mexico Court of Appeals upheld a ruling by the state’s Civil Rights Commission that a Christian photographer who refused to take pictures of a gay couple’s commitment ceremony violated the state’s discrimination law…

The case dates back to 2006 when Vanessa Willock tried to hire Elane Photography for a “same-gender ceremony.” New Mexico law does not recognize either marriage or civil unions between persons of the same sex.

The State of Oregon already has some of the most restrictive anti-smoking laws in the nation. Now the state legislature is considering a bill to ban smoking in all state parks–except in your own RV or vehicle.  Can’t be about the smoke since they’re not banning campfires. Hmmmm.

And this is the same state legislature that decided that sex change operations are a state employee benefit.

Thank God Danny Glover isn’t a Real Teacher.

The Constitution’s Second Amendment was created to bolster slavery and capture land from Native Americans, award-winning actor Danny Glover told a group of students at a Texas A&M sponsored event on Thursday.

“I don’t know if you know the genesis of the right to bear arms,” he said. “The Second Amendment comes from the right to protect themselves from slave revolts, and from uprisings by Native Americans.”

2009 Nobel Peace Prize nominee Jim Garrow shockingly claims he was told by a top military veteran that the Obama administration’s “litmus test” for new military leaders is whether or not they will obey an order to fire on U.S. citizens.

 Garrow was nominated three years ago for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize and is the founder of The Pink Pagoda Girls, an organization dedicated to rescuing baby girls from “gendercide” in China. Garrow has been personally involved in “helping rescue more than 36,000 Chinese baby girls from death.” He is a public figure, not an anonymous voice on the Internet, which makes his claim all the more disturbing.

“I have just been informed by a former senior military leader that Obama is using a new “litmus test” in determining who will stay and who must go in his military leaders. Get ready to explode folks. “The new litmus test of leadership in the military is if they will fire on US citizens or not”. Those who will not are being removed,” Garrow wrote on his Facebook page, later following up the post by adding the man who told him is, “one of America’s foremost military heroes,” whose goal in divulging the information was to “sound the alarm.”

Garrow’s claim is even more explosive given that the country is in the throes of a national debate about gun control, with gun rights advocates keen to insist that the founders put the second amendment in the Constitution primarily as a defense against government tyranny.

It also follows reports on Sunday that General James Mattis, head of the United States Central Command, “is being told to vacate his office several months earlier than planned.”

Concerns over US troops being given orders to fire on American citizens in the event of mass gun confiscation first arose in 1995 when hundreds of Marines at 29 Palms, California were given a survey as part of an academic project by Navy Lieutenant Commander Ernest Guy Cunningham which asked the Marines if they would, “Fire upon U.S. citizens who refuse or resist confiscation of firearms banned by the United States government.”

The survey was subsequently leaked because many of the Marines who took it were shocked by the tone of the question.

The US Military has clearly outlined innumerable civil emergency scenarios under which troops would be authorized to fire on U.S. citizens.

In July 2012, the process by which this could take place was made clear in a leaked US Army Military Police training manual for “Civil Disturbance Operations” (PDF) dating from 2006. Similar plans were also outlined in an updated manual released in 2010 entitled FM 3-39.40 Internment and Resettlement Operations.

The 2006 document outlines how military assets will be used to “help local and state authorities to restore and maintain law and order” in the event of mass riots, civil unrest or a declaration of martial law.

On page 20 of the manual, rules regarding the use of “deadly force” in confronting “dissidents” on American soil are made disturbingly clear with the directive that a, “Warning shot will not be fired.”

Given that second amendment advocates are now being depicted as dangerous terrorists by the federal government and local law enforcement, Garrow’s claim is sure to stoke controversy given that Americans are seeing their gun rights eviscerated while the federal government itself stockpiles billions of bullets.

Last week, Gloversville Mayor Dayton King warned that any federal gun confiscation program could lead to a “Waco-style standoff” in rural areas of America.

• If the attacker had used a gun instead of a knife would it have been all over the media?

• Does it draw too much attention to  the way our culture deals (or rather doesn’t deal) with mentally unstable people–and would therefore delute the current firestorm around guns?

• Is it because the attack was a crazy Black man on a White woman with a baby?

Those are the questions that are rolling around in my mind. What do you think?
